Business Loans FAQs

How much can my business borrow?

It depends on your income and cash flow, existing debts, the security you can offer, how long you’ve been trading and your industry. Lenders assess these differently, so borrowing capacity can vary from one lender to the next. A broker can compare options for your situation so you know what’s realistic before you apply. Book an appointment and we’ll walk you through your options.

Can I get a business loan without property security?

In many cases, yes. Some lenders offer unsecured business loans based on your trading history and financial position instead of property. These loans often come with lower limits, shorter terms or higher rates than secured finance, and approval depends on your cash flow and credit history. We can explain the trade-offs and compare secured and unsecured options so you can choose what suits your business.

Can I get a business loan if I have ATO debt?

It may be possible, but it depends on your situation. Lenders usually look at whether your tax lodgements are up to date, whether you have a payment arrangement with the ATO, and how the debt compares with your cash flow. Some lenders and loan structures are more flexible than others. We can review your position and outline the options available.

How long does a business loan take to approve?

It varies by lender, loan type and how complete your documents are. Simpler facilities can sometimes be assessed quickly, while business purchases or loans secured by property usually take longer because of valuations and legal work. Having your financials ready helps. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe once we understand what you need.

Can I get a business loan with less than two years of trading?

Many lenders prefer at least two years of trading history, but some will consider newer businesses. They may look at your industry experience, personal financial position, cash flow or additional security. Start-ups are assessed more cautiously, so how the application is structured and presented matters. We can explain which options may suit your stage of business.

Is it better to use a broker or apply directly to a bank?

A bank can only offer its own products and policies. A broker can compare options from a range of lenders, explain what each one looks for, structure your application and manage it through to settlement. If one lender declines, we can look at others. Applying directly can suit simple needs, but a broker can help you avoid a poorly structured loan.

Do your services cost anything?

We’ll explain exactly how we’re paid before you proceed. In many cases we receive a commission from the lender when your loan settles, and in some situations a fee may apply for more complex or specialised work. You’ll receive this information in writing, in line with our credit guide, before you commit to anything.
